In this project, the task was to create a desktop e-commerce platform for a local company. We chose ‘Oi Babs,’ a small store that specializes in handmade products located in Rio de Janeiro. The project was carried out in a group, along with Vitor Nano and Marcella de Angelis, UI/UX Design students from the Bootcamp.

About Oi Babs

Oi Babs is a small store founded in November 2020 by Bárbara Mendes, 23 years old. Bárbara is a young entrepreneur with a background in advertising. She had always dreamed of investing in a business and found the right path. Her store specializes in selling handmade earrings made from polymer clay. She not only aims for customers to be satisfied with the quality of her products but also hopes to help them express themselves and boost their self-esteem through fashion.

Insights and Research

During the process of the desk research, we concluded that this type of product is increasingly popular because consumers feel connected to the brand and its values, making them happy to contribute to its growth.

We then formulated questions to ask our stakeholder. Examples of questions included:

  • What are your best-selling products?
  • What are your business objectives?
  • Where do you see your business in 5 years?
  • What challenges do you encounter?

Based on the answers we received, we created an Affinity Diagram.

With these responses, we were able to profile the company and align with Bárbara’s objectives. We felt that her lack of time to dedicate herself fully and the fact that products were only sold through Instagram DMs were the main problems to be addressed.

Many of the customers cited the company’s representation of shared values and its early growth stage as decisive factors in their purchase decisions.

In the future, Bárbara wishes to expand her range of products beyond earrings and also sell to men.

With a younger audience, Oi Babs is able to offer a simple and effective service through Instagram. They emphasize home delivery as the primary differentiator, feeling happy when they receive the product at home.

Problem & Hypothesis

Women, young individuals who like to innovate with fashion, need a way to purchase Oi Babs products through an official channel. This would allow them to maintain attentive service along with an official e-commerce.

We believe that by creating a formal e-commerce for the Oi Babs brand for its female customers, we can achieve a higher number of sales.

This was the initial process to materialize our vision for our website. We considered the paths that the user could follow and how the site’s structure would function.

Wireframes

After this extensive and detailed research process, we arrived at our Mid-Fi Wireframe. We aimed to align with the stakeholder’s and her customers’ needs, and to create a user-friendly site that corresponds to the model used by most companies in the same industry. The prototypes were created in Figma.

Conclusão

We hope that this solution increases the number of sales and brings the customer closer to the brand. I felt deeply connected to Oi Babs’ values, which motivated me even more to work on the project. I believe that creating a dedicated website and expanding the range of products will help the brand establish itself in the market.

This third week of study was very valuable, and this project helped me understand more about business and how a company operates. I’m looking forward to what the future holds!
